The Senior Special Assistant to the Vice President on Media, Laolu Akande, disclosed this in a tweet on his verified Twitter handle.
Akande said the vice president would return later in the day.
He wrote: “VP Osinbajo to represent President Buhari today in Niger where an Extraordinary ECOWAS summit is holding to review the ongoing situation in Guinea Bissau.
“He will depart Abuja this morning and return later today.”
Guinea Bissau President, President José Mario lVaz, had on October 28 dismissed the government and appointed a new prime minister, thus setting the stage for a protracted political crisis in the Portuguese speaking West African nation.
