The Action Democratic Party (ADP) Senatorial Candidate for Edo South Senatorial District, Dr Ese Owie on Friday 18th January 2019 set out his legislative policy developmental agenda in the course of the commencement of his tour of all 77 wards in the District.
Speaking during his campaign visits to Egbede, Ohuan, Isi North and Isi South Wards of Uhunmwode LGA, he reiterated his vision that focuses on the promotion of polices that would facilitate the development of sustainable Infrastructure, Education, Healthcare, Agriculture and Wealth Creation.
During an interactive session with voters at Aduhanhan (Egbede Ward), he assured them that upon election, by the Grace of the Almighty, he shall, among other things, facilitate the completion of the Uhunmwode Electricity Project which has been abandoned by successive legislators since 2003. The project was originally conceptualised to energize all the communities in Uhunmwode LGA. The Egbede phase would connect communities in Egbede Ward to the national grid. He also promised to facilitate the resuscitation of the Federal Technical Training School in Ugoneki, the administrative capital of the ward.
Also, at Isua in Ohuan Ward, he promised to promote polices that engender the development of Agriculture clusters on a well articulated Public Private Partnership (PPP) basis in Ebue and Obadan, and articulated his commitment to ensuring that the Benin Owena River Basin Development Authority Irrigation Project at Isua is reintroduced in the budget and properly funded. Communities in the Ward will also benefit from the Uhunmwode Electricty Project. For road infrastructure, he promised that the Ugonoba – Ebue – Adesegbon road will be constructed by the NDDC in order to promote economic growth in the area.
At Equaeholor, Isi North, he saluted vision of the founding fathers of the community in establishing the Elaiho Grammar School, Equaeholor and promised to ensure the conversion via a Private Member Bill, of the institution to a campus of a proposed Federal University of Education to be located in Abudu. The campus shall be a centre of excellence in Agriculture education and extension studies among others. He also stated his commitment to the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the Ugoneki – Equaeholor – Ugieghudu – Ehor road that would exponentially trigger economic growth in the area. These along side the electricity project would guarantee development in the area.
Speaking at Iguogbe and Ilobi communities of Isi South he told the gathering that it was a great privilege to be received by the Elders and Ancestors of his forebears in Ilobi and assured them that the Federal Government Comprehensive Primary Healthcare Centre in Ilobi which was conceptualised in 2002 and has reached over 70% completion shall be fastracked and delivered as soon as he assumes office in the Senate.
On road infrastructure, he promised to collaborate with the NDDC to construct the Ugonoba – Ebue -Iguiyase- Evbowe – Ewan road, with a spur to Iguogbe via Ekae to Ilobi. In a similar vein he also promised to connect communities in the ward to the national grid and ensure that the Benin Owena River Basin completes the Irrigation of the community to drive Agribusiness.
At all four wards, Dr Owie used the opportunity of his Town-Hall style grassroots campaign to visit primary and secondary schools in the communities where he distributed exercise books to students. He informed the young ones that ADP is a party that firmly believes in knowledge dissemination and that in furtherance of this conviction, the founding fathers of the Party chose as it’s logo, the image of a hand holding an open book. While welcoming the students back from the holidays, he admonished them to take their studies seriously so that they can be prosperous in the future.
He assured all the communities in the course of his campaign that Edo South is set to witness impactful representation come May 2019.
Dr Owie was accompanied on the tour by leaders of the Party led by the Team Lead of his Campaign Organization christened ‘Edo South Team Impact ’19’ Hon Izedonmwen Oshodin the ADP Uhunmwode LGA Chairman, Chief Great Omoruyi, Ms. Paula Bell-Gam and other candidates in the forthcoming elections amongst whom were Hon. John Iroguehi the Candidate for Orhionmwon-Uhunmwode Federal Constituency, Engr. Austine Osaghae, Candidate for Uhunmwode State Assembly Constituency and Hon Vincent Omoigui, the Candidate for Ikpoba Okha State Assembly Constituency.
