Edo: Why Obaseki Media Aides Are Celebrating The Supreme Court Judgement On Bayelsa

Politics and religion is indeed the opium of society. With these two tools, politicians and clerics can manipulate the people or rather their followership.

We have been capturing every single detail as we fast approach the Edo State elections.

It has been intriguing all the way albeit for a sudden turn in the introduction of explosives.

Already reporters covering the Edo elections are jittery over their personal safety since the last two weeks.

Oppositional figures have had their houses targeted with explosives and there is an uneasy calm on the state presently.

Today the supreme court gave its verdict on the Bayelsa Elections and have nullified the victory of David Lyon as governor-elect of Bayelsa State, barely 24 hours to his inauguration.

With the news of the nullification, the media aides of Governor Obaseki immediately took over the social media space mocking the APC National Chairman for the nullification.

They claim it is a big defeat for Oshiomhole and only signifies the beginning of his downfall.

Recall during the last Bayelsa elections Obaseki was accused of sponsoring the PDP with over 200 million naira.

Also when the APC candidate won the elections it took Governor Godwin Obaseki over 78 hrs before he congratulated his fellow APC governor-elect.

Obaseki who always wants to have all the glory to himself was angry about the victory of the APC in Bayelsa. He wanted to remain as the only APC South-South Governor.

Also, there was a rumour flying around that David Lyon was to be made the vice-chairman of the progressive governor’s forum a position which Obaseki presently occupies.

If David Lyon was inaugurated and was appointed the vice-chairman it would have been a big blow for the egoistic Obaseki.

Obaseki has every reason to celebrate the court judgement, Obaseki who is already on his way out of the party is spending his last energy on tarnishing the image of Adams Oshiomhole before his eventual departure.

How this court judgement favours the political battle ahead for Obaseki is yet to be seen.

Mr Stephen onyeukwu

I have been following preceding on your write ups on the forth coming election in Edo state, and would rather say am very disappointed as you cover the events, true journalism is about being objective and always standing by facts and figures, its most unfortunate how you go about ur stories, which are rather onsided, its very obvious you don’t like the sitting governor, and has been doing everything withing ur means to rubbish him and discredit his government, the stories from Edo is often one sided, with obaseki always being on the receiving end, you need to turn a new leaf and correct this aspect of ur write up else people see u as being sponsored to be doing what u re doing, cos I don’t see why when it comes to Edo affairs , you discredit obaseki and always praise oshiomole his predecessor, the question is why should Edo suddenly become a one man state , where oshiomole must decide who must govern the state, he has served his tenure and left , others should be left to serve theirs too. Edo should not be like Lagos, where one man ( tinubu) , calls the shot at every happenings in the state. I am not a fan of obaseki mind u, am not even a party man, but as journalists, you owe us a responsibility to give us objective write ups and one medium to be proud of. Let us know more about the reason why oshiomole wants the sitting governor sacked crookedly . plz stay unbiased
