The fake news floating on the social media by obscured online gossip platforms that the Secretary to the Edo State Government, Mr. Osarodion Ogie Esqr dishonoured the Benin monarch, HRM, Oba Ewuare 11 over the courtesy visit by the President of Nigeria Industrial Court to the revered Benin monarch is a figment of the writer’s imagination, a source in Edo State Government House said.
It was reported in some fake news portals that Mr. Ogie Esqr narrowly escaped the wrath of the ancestors for disrespecting the Benin monarch regarding the letter he signed on behalf of the State Governor, Godwin Obaseki where he pleaded with His Majesty to receive the Judges and Officials of the National Industrial court led by its president, Justice Babatunde Adejumo.
The said letter which was made available to our correspondent reads differently from the falsehood published by fake online outfits.
The letter which was addressed to the monarch by the SSG reads thus, Attention: Secretary to the Oba of Benin. Request For Courtesy Visit To His Royal Majesty. “I respectfully request you to kindly inform His Royal Majesty that a Team of Judges and officials of the National Industrial Court, Abuja is expected to visit the Palace of the Oba of Benin.
“It will be highly appreciated if His Royal Majesty graciously approves a Courtesy Visit by the Team to be led by Hon. Justice Babatunde A. Adejumo, President, National Industrial Court, Abuja on Monday 16th September, 2019 at 3: 00pm.
The letter in conclusion pleaded: “I am to add that any inconveniences caused the Palace by this short notice is deelpy regretted. Oba ghato Okpere, Ise! Singed: Osarodion Ogie, Secretary to the state Government.
A source in Osadebe Avenue, the seat of government in the state capital who craves anonymity said the idiots involved in the business of news manipulation with the intention to cause disaffection between the Royal Majesty and the SSG are naive of the workings of government processes.
“Justice Adejumo came to Edo State to commission the Benin Division of the National Industrial Court built by Governor Godwin Obaseki which was established in 1978 with a mandate to mediate into dispute between employer and employees, the government and Staff.
“The date for commissioning was fixed by Industrial Court not Edo State Govt. Edo State Govt had just 48hours to make the invitations and other commissioning arrangements as the President of Industrial Court was retiring that same week, he said.
