BREAKING: IPMAN Speaks On Embarking On Strike

Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria IPMAN 1280x720 1

The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has refuted claims made by Tafida Suleiman, distancing itself from any plans to disrupt operations or engage in industrial action.

IPMAN’s President, Debo Ahmed, stated that the association has no intention to shut down operations, as it would only lead to more hardships for Nigerians and hinder President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s efforts to reform the petroleum industry.

Ahmed, speaking through IPMAN Secretary John Kekeocha, also denied allegations of extortion made against the Petroleum Tankers Division (PTD) of the National Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG).

He emphasized that no tanker is coerced into paying N150,000 or N200,000 before or after loading.

Kekeocha further described Suleiman and his group as “economic saboteurs” aiming to undermine the government’s efforts in addressing petroleum scarcity and excessive subsidy payments, which led to its removal.

He advised IPMAN members to continue their operations and ensure the availability of petroleum products for the efficient functioning of the economy.

IPMAN operates in accordance with the 1997 constitution, as affirmed by the Supreme Court, and Kekeocha urged people not to create crises within the association based on personal interests and political motives.

He emphasized that IPMAN is cooperating with the PTD of NUPENG and other sister associations.

Kekeocha called on the government to issue an importation license to IPMAN, enabling it to compete with other stakeholders in a deregulated regime.

He also urged security agencies to remain vigilant and apprehend individuals who seek to frustrate the government’s efforts.
