The summit is planned to take place in Abuja, Nigeria, which is the current headquarters of ECOWAS, under the chairmanship of Nigerian President Bola Tinubu.
Earlier on Monday, a source within ECOWAS indicated that immediate military intervention was not being contemplated at this stage by West African nations.
Italy and Germany advocated for a diplomatic resolution to the unrest in the troubled Sahel nation.
