The Governor of Nasarawa State, Abdullahi Sule, has refuted a newspaper article that linked him to the perceived political challenges faced by his predecessors, Abdullahi Adamu and Umar Tanko Al-Makura.

Governor Sule addressed this matter during a press briefing on Tuesday, where he was represented by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs, Peter Ahember, in Lafia.

To emphasize this point, Ahember highlighted that Governor Sule has consistently supported the endeavors of his immediate predecessor, Al-Makura.

This support ranged from backing Al-Makura’s bid for the National Chairmanship of the All Progressives Congress to endorsing his attempt at a senatorial position in the last general elections.

However, it’s important to note that the President holds the sole prerogative to appoint Ministers, and Governor Sule’s influence is limited in this regard.

Regarding former governor Abdullahi Adamu, Ahember clarified that Governor Sule had no involvement in the political conflicts that led to Adamu’s resignation as National Chairman.

Ahember deemed it misleading for anyone to suggest that the governor was responsible for the discord within the National Working Committee of the ruling Party that ultimately resulted in Senator Abdullahi Adamu’s voluntary resignation. The unfortunate situation had no connection whatsoever with Governor Sule.

Ahember reminded that Governor Sule was the first to publicly propose that the APC’s National Chairman should come from Nasarawa State and actively worked towards realizing this goal.
