BREAKING: France Reacts To Coup In Gabon (DETAILS)
France’s government spokesperson, Olivier Veran, has expressed condemnation of the coup in Gabon and emphasized the importance of respecting the election outcome in the country.
Earlier, Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne of France mentioned that Paris was closely monitoring the situation in Gabon “with the utmost attention.”

President Emmanuel Macron remarked on Monday about what he referred to as an “epidemic” of coups in French-speaking Africa in recent years, citing examples from Mali, Burkina Faso, Guinea, and most recently Niger.
France maintains a military presence in several of its former colonies, including Gabon, where around 370 soldiers are stationed permanently, some of whom are based in the capital, Libreville, according to information provided on the French defense ministry’s website.
