Nollywood comedic actor John Okafor, popularly known as Mr. Ibu, is presently hospitalized in an undisclosed private facility in Lagos.

In a widely circulated video posted on his verified Instagram account on Wednesday, the actor appealed for assistance and prayers from his fans.

As stated by Mr. Ibu, he has been under medical care for several weeks, and the medical professionals have indicated that they may need to amputate his leg if the next course of action does not yield positive results.

“I have been down for so many weeks. All I am hoping for Is your prayers and assistance, as I speak to you I am still lying down at the hospital. The medical director of this hospital said that the best solution is in case his new idea doesn’t work, the best idea is to cut off my leg.

“Just see me, if they cut off my leg where will I go from here? Please, be in prayers for me, talk to God Almighty, I don’t want my leg to be cut off, please. Thank you so much, God bless,” the actor said.

Additionally, in the video, Mr. Ibu’s daughter, Jasmine Okafor, implored both individuals and organizations to facilitate the actor’s transfer abroad for medical treatment. She expressed concern that his condition has not shown improvement even though he is currently in what she referred to as “one of the finest private facilities in Lagos.”

She said, “As a family, we want to appeal that at this point, people should come to Daddy’s aid and rescue; for the past two weeks, Daddy has been very down, so we took him to the hospital. I have been sorting the bills, thinking I can do it alone. We have been doing everything humanly possible; as a family, we felt it was something we could do on our own for him to be fine, but he is not getting any better.

“He is not getting better; some days, it seems as if he is getting better; some days, it seems like it is getting worse. We are at one of the best private medical facilities in Lagos, and they want to refer us to another hospital because he is not getting better here.”

In the video, the actor’s wife expressed distress over her husband’s condition and passionately appealed for help to rescue him from this critical situation.

Mr. Ibu, a prolific figure in Nollywood with an extensive filmography, marked his 62nd birthday while confined to a hospital bed.

He has graced the screens in over 200 Nollywood productions, including notable titles like “Mr. Ibu” (2004) and “Mr. Ibu and His Son,” which are among his most recognized works.
