Some days ago, the president organized a retreat with his cabinet members and top governmental aides to develop strategies for accelerating the realization of the administration’s 8-point agenda. It was a period dedicated to learning, relearning, and strategizing, aiming not only to actualize these goals but also to align with the expectations of Nigerians.

The ministry of Niger Delta Development has its own fair share of challenges that hinder its desired impact on the people of the Niger Delta. These challenges include funding limitations, inadequate infrastructure, environmental degradation, difficulties in community engagement, security concerns, and issues related to governance and corruption.

These challenges collectively impede the ministry’s capacity to efficiently execute development projects and meet the urgent needs of the Niger Delta region. Since assuming office, Minister Hon Abubakar Momoh has taken crucial steps, including touring the nine states under the ministry. He has submitted a comprehensive report to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who appears satisfied with the minister’s holistic approach.

Having identified and addressed the bottlenecks hindering genuine development in the region, it is now time for Momoh to align with the collective dreams of the people of the Niger Delta.
