Reason Why I Won’t Go After My Detractors – Governor Sule

Governor Abdullahi Sule has asserted that he will refrain from pursuing those opposing him as the governor of the state. As a Muslim, he is mindful of the duties imposed on a leader.

Governor Sule made this declaration while hosting the executive members of the Tsangaya Quranic Reciters, led by the Sangarin Kwandere, HRH Alhaji Ahmadu Al-Makura, at the Government House, Lafia on Thursday.

Despite calls urging him to take stern actions against such individuals, particularly opposition members in the state who prayed for his downfall, he remains steadfast in his decision, guided by his understanding of Islamic principles concerning the responsibilities of a leader.

“I am aware of the immense responsibility bestowed on a leader by Islam, and I am willing to accommodate their attitudes.”

Expressing his concern about a situation where an alleged cultist openly prayed for harm to befall him at the state headquarters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Governor Sule emphasized his commitment to tolerance over vengeance due to his religious beliefs. He urged members of the Quranic Reciters Association to include opposition members in their prayers, hoping that it would promote the understanding of peaceful coexistence.

Governor Sule expressed gratitude to the association for their concern and prayers during the legal proceedings at the Court of Appeal. He requested them to continue praying, even after the Supreme Court judgment, to contribute to the maintenance of peaceful coexistence in the state.

The leader of the delegation, HRH Ahmadu Al-Makura, stated that the group decided to organize a series of prayers to safeguard the interests of the people of the state.

It’s worth noting that the Court of Appeal’s decision to overturn Governor Sule’s dismissal has sparked protests from PDP members, insisting on their candidate’s victory in the gubernatorial election.
