Itubo stated that she would only disclose specifics once their deliberations were concluded.

The political landscape in Rivers State witnessed a significant development as 27 members of the State House of Assembly defected from the PDP to the All Progressives Congress (APC). This group was reported to be loyal to Martins Amaewhule, an ally of Nyesom Wike, the former governor of the state until May 29, 2023.

The ongoing crisis within the 32-member Assembly stemmed from a conflict between Fubara and his predecessor, Wike.

In the midst of these events, elder statesman Chief Edwin Clark has reiterated his call for President Bola Tinubu to intervene and advise Nyesom Wike, the current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), to manage the political situation in Rivers State. Clark emphasized that if all former governors insist on controlling their successors, it could lead to chaos in the country.
