Akpabio Finally Opens Up About Events After Birthday Colloquium

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has provided additional information about the events following his 61st birthday colloquium, explaining that he felt exhausted.

The former governor of Akwa Ibom held the event in Abuja, and there were several reports suggesting that he slumped during the occasion.

However, clarifying the situation, the Senate President informed journalists in his Abuja office that the celebrations took a toll on him, especially as he was already contending with a bout of malaria.

“What eventually happened after the event was a show of humanity. I went home and I called my doctors and I was assured that I had malaria, mingled with stress, which could also be described in another way as exhaustion,” he said.

He acknowledged that what transpired after the event was a show of humanity.

“I went home and I called my doctors and I was assured that I have malaria, mingled with stress, which could also be described in another way as exhaustion. In fact, anybody could be exhausted. Please, drink water daily so that you don’t get exhausted,” the lawmaker told the gathering.

“This is to say that the work goes on. I want to assure Nigerians that the National Assembly is intact and we are still going on with our duty, our appropriation.

Senator Akpabio, however, mentioned that lawmakers would resume plenary on the 20th of December.

He added that the various committees are anticipated to conclude their work to achieve the goal of passing the budget before the year’s end.

The event on Thursday was attended by prominent government dignitaries, including President Bola Tinubu, who praised Akpabio’s qualities and expressed collaboration with the National Assembly to improve the nation.
