The former Vice President emphasized that curbing these attacks requires the government’s unwavering determination to eradicate the threats.

This involves expanding the country’s security infrastructure and expediting the arrest and prosecution of those responsible for such heinous acts as a deterrent.

Expressing deep concern over the recurring brutal assaults on innocent civilians by criminal groups, Atiku insisted that the government must ensure that those responsible face immediate consequences for their actions.

He highlighted the alarming rate of massacres in areas like Plateau, Kaduna, Zamfara, and others grappling with insecurity, emphasizing that only decisive government action can put an end to this crisis.

Atiku acknowledged the increasing demand for state police, attributing it to the frustration arising from the perceived inability of the government to effectively combat these criminal elements.

He pointed out that the current state of affairs reflects a decline in the judiciary, with criminals being released without proper trials, which, in turn, undermines the morale of law enforcement officers and security agencies.

Warning against leaving the citizens vulnerable to existential threats, Atiku emphasized that safeguarding lives and property is a fundamental responsibility of any government worldwide.
