The catastrophic event, triggered by an engine failure reported by the pilot, resulted in several fatalities, severe damage to four homes, and set the area ablaze.

Clearwater Fire Chief Scott Ehlers conveyed the grim news during a press conference, indicating that the plane slammed directly into one home, claiming lives both from the aircraft and within the mobile home. The crash site, part of the Bayside Waters mobile home park, was quickly engulfed in flames, leaving the community in shock.

While three additional homes suffered damage, Chief Ehlers reassured that no one inside those residences sustained injuries. Videos circulating online captured the devastating aftermath, portraying a blaze and thick smoke enveloping the residential area.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reported the crash involved a Beechcraft Bonanza V35, and as of early Friday, February 2, the exact number of people on board remained unknown.

The Fire Department received the distress call at 7:08 p.m., swiftly responding to the scene and successfully extinguishing the flames by 7:15 p.m.

Chief Ehlers noted that the aircraft vanished from radar approximately three miles north of the runway, signaling a critical moment in the investigation. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has assumed control of the inquiry, aiming to unravel the circumstances leading to this tragic aviation incident in Clearwater.
