The Super Eagles succumbed to a 2-1 loss against the Elephants of Ivory Coast in a thrilling match on Sunday night, as reported by Naija News.
In response to the defeat, Atiku took to his official X handle (formerly Twitter) on Sunday night, expressing that the outcome was not what Nigerians worldwide anticipated.
The ex-Vice President emphasized that despite falling short in the final and missing out on the AFCON trophy, the support for the Super Eagles from every Nigerian will persist.
Atiku affirmed his continued pride in the Super Eagles and commended their diligence, perseverance, and sacrifices to reach this stage in the tournament.
He penned: “Although it’s not the outcome we all anticipated, we remain #SuperEagles. We continue to be proud of you guys. Congratulations, @NGSuperEagles. -AA”
