In an interview over the weekend, the Chairman of the Northern Senators’ Forum alleged discrepancies between the N25 trillion debated and passed by the National Assembly and the N28.7 trillion implemented by the federal government. He further accused the Tinubu administration of unfairness in the budget’s implementation.

Despite rebuttals from Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, who labeled Ningi’s claims as false, the senator remains resolute. Speaking to reporters at the Senate on Monday, Ningi reaffirmed his stance and expressed readiness for any consequences.

“I am not afraid of suspension by the Senate. I stand by what I said: N3.7 trillion is not traced to any project in the 2024 Budget,” Ningi asserted. He clarified that he spoke for himself and not on behalf of the Northern Senator Forum, emphasizing that he never alleged the federal government was operating with two budgets but rather highlighted the untraceable funds within the budget.
