Kidnappers Seek N10 Million Ransom For UNTH Director’s Release

The incident occurred on Tuesday, March 12, when kidnappers raided the hospital premises, seizing a nurse along with two others, including a hospital security personnel.

Despite the successful rescue of one of the abducted hospital staff members by the police, The Nations’ correspondent learned that the kidnappers have contacted the nurse’s family, demanding a ransom of N10 million.

According to a source at the hospital, the kidnappers made contact with the family on Tuesday evening, following the abduction.

“After the shooting incident that led to her abduction, her phone was switched off. All efforts to reach her mobile number failed. Everyone was afraid the worst might have happened until in the evening when the phone number of one of her family members started ringing, and it was them,” the source stated.

He further added, “From what we heard from the family, the kidnappers called and demanded N10 million. That was all they could say.”

Meanwhile, the police have successfully rescued the hospital security guard who was abducted alongside the nurse.

In a statement issued by Daniel Ndukwe, the state police command confirmed the rescue of the security guard and the ongoing efforts to secure the release of the female nurse.

Commissioner of Police Kanayo Uzuegbu has directed law enforcement operatives to intensify efforts in rescuing the female nurse and apprehending the perpetrators.
