Speaking with State House correspondents after the meeting on Tuesday, March 19, Oborevwori stated that he had engaged with security heads but had not yet met with members of the affected community, as they are currently dispersed. He refrained from commenting on alleged reprisal attacks by the military and the number of casualties, citing the sensitivity of the unfolding security situation.

The ambush on Thursday, March 14, 2024, led to the loss of a Commanding Officer, two Majors, one Captain, 12 soldiers, and one civilian. Channels Television reported that 14 soldiers’ bodies were recovered by soldiers of the Joint Task Force under the supervision of Major General Jamal Abdussalam, the General Officer Commanding 6 Division, Nigerian Army.
