Paul Akintelure, a medical doctor vying for the APC governorship ticket, was confirmed dead in the early hours of Tuesday.
His demise comes shortly after he raised an alarm about a serious threat to his life, just a week before the APC governorship primary scheduled for April 25. While he did not provide specific details about the threat, he expressed deep concern about the situation.
In an interview with Daily Trust, the deceased’s younger brother, Oladapo Akintelure, disclosed that Paul had been battling various illnesses and was admitted to the hospital before his passing.
According to Oladapo, Paul had been experiencing sudden health issues such as headaches, backaches, and chest pains for the past 12 to 14 days. Despite being advised to prioritize his health and take a break from campaigning, Paul persisted, albeit with difficulty.
Oladapo expressed disbelief at his brother’s sudden demise, suggesting that it may not be natural. He described the situation as unfortunate and emphasized that the family is still coming to terms with the shocking loss.
“While it’s too early to draw conclusions, as a family member, I must admit this is a deeply troubling and unexpected development,” Oladapo remarked, hinting at underlying concerns surrounding the circumstances of Paul’s death.
