Speaking on Channels Television’s “Politics Today,” Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs, Aliyu Audu, emphasized the importance of citizens playing an active role in national development.

Audu criticized past failures to save and adequately prepare for the future, despite warnings from economic experts. He stressed that Nigeria’s challenges require collective action and proactive measures rather than relying solely on divine intervention. “Nigeria works when Nigerians work. Prayers don’t fix problems. It takes time. We need to get used to that. It is not magic,” he remarked.

This call for action comes in the wake of President Bola Tinubu’s endorsement of the Renewed Hope Infrastructure Development Fund. This strategic initiative aims to drive infrastructure development across critical sectors such as agriculture, transportation, ports, aviation, energy, healthcare, and education.

The Renewed Hope Infrastructure Development Fund seeks to stimulate economic growth, promote local value addition, create employment opportunities, foster technological innovation, and boost exports. It will adopt diverse investment strategies, including direct project financing through budget allocations, public-private partnerships, collaboration with multilateral development institutions, and equity investments.
