Anthony Joshua Setup A Date For His Next Fight
Nigerian-born British heavyweight boxer, Anthony Joshua, has revealed that he is aiming to return to the ring in September for his next fight. This announcement comes after his last bout on March 8, 2024, where he defeated cross-over boxer Francis Ngannou in a non-title bout in Saudi Arabia…..READ ALSO Drake Loses £478,000 Bet As Anthony Joshua Knocks Out Ngannou
The 34-year-old former two-time champion knocked out Ngannou in the second round, adding another victory to his illustrious boxing career, which also includes recent wins against Robert Helenius and Otto Wallin within the past 12 months.
During an interview on the Jonathon Ross show, Joshua disclosed his expected timeline for his next fight, stating, “Around September is when I’ve been told; I was hoping for June. I’ve got some time to go on dates now and mingle a little bit. I’m training at the moment; I’ve got two months before I get into training camp.”
Joshua is eyeing a title fight to potentially become a three-time world champion. One of the opportunities for such a bout might arise from facing the winner of the unified heavyweight clash between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk, scheduled for May 18.
Although Joshua has suffered defeats at the hands of Usyk, losing his heavyweight world title, he has never fought Fury in his career. Despite failed attempts in the past to arrange a fight between them, Joshua has expressed his desire to face Fury in the boxing ring, considering him one of his rivals.
“Fury is one of my rivals; this is someone I want to compete with one day. So everything he says, I’ve got it all stored in the back of my memory, and when the fight happens, I’m going to use it as a lot of fuel,” AJ remarked.
