29-Year-Old Man Faces Charges For Allegedly Stealing Phones At Students’ Hostel

In a legal proceeding at the Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, a 29-year-old man named Ismail Olaitan stood accused of theft, specifically for allegedly stealing phones from a students’ hostel. According to the Prosecutor, Insp Olalekan Adegbite, the defendant purportedly committed the offence on March 22, around 9 p.m., at the Havana Royale Hostel within the University of Ibadan area. It was alleged that Olaitan stole an iPhone valued at N265,000 and another android phone valued at N170,000, both belonging to a certain Aishat Adeyemi.

The charges levied against Olaitan are in violation of Section 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

Magistrate Mrs. Oluwabusayo Osho granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000, with two reliable sureties each in the same amount. The case was subsequently adjourned till May 8 for further proceedings.
