Imo Police Parade 14 Suspected Cultists, Seize Arms, Ammunition

The Imo State Police Command has unveiled 14 individuals suspected of belonging to the notorious Black Axe confraternity.

“The arrest of the suspects was the result of an intelligence-led operation on a suspected criminal hideout at Irete in Owerri West LGA of Imo State, conducted by operatives of the Command during routine confidence-building patrols. Recovered from these suspects include; One locally made single barrel pistol, two rounds of live cartridges, and other incriminating items,” he stated.

The apprehended suspects, currently held in custody at the Command headquarters, are undergoing interrogation.

Police authorities have launched investigations to apprehend other members of the gang and identify the manufacturer or dealers of the locally made firearm.

“The suspects will face trial in court upon the conclusion of the investigation,” Henry added.

Meanwhile, the Police Commissioner has urged parents and guardians to counsel their children against involvement in cultism and other criminal activities.
