Kaduna Students And NCPC Push For Peaceful Solutions Ahead Of Planned Protests

Amid the planned nationwide protest slated for August, the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC) has called for peace and patience. NCPC Executive Secretary, Bishop Stephen Adegbite, made this appeal in a statement on Sunday, urging Nigerians to seek alternative measures to register their grievances, assuring that President Bola Tinubu is committed to their welfare.

“Despite the difficulties, the President has been implementing palliatives across the states to alleviate suffering. I encourage us to refrain from participating in the planned nationwide protest and instead explore alternative channels for expressing our concerns,” Adegbite said.

He emphasized the importance of peaceful dialogue, constructive criticism, and collaborative problem-solving. “We must work together to find solutions that benefit our nation as a whole. Nigeria is like a ship in a storm; we must work together to keep it afloat, rather than risking it being dashed on the rocks of unrest and chaos,” he added.

Bishop Adegbite called on all Nigerians to continue praying for the nation and its leaders, especially the President, for wisdom and guidance in these challenging times. “Let us choose the path of peace, patience, and perseverance, and work together to build a better Nigeria,” he concluded.

In a related development, students of various tertiary institutions in Kaduna State have distanced themselves from the planned August 1st nationwide protest, stating that the action will not be in their interest as future leaders. The students, drawn from Kaduna State University, Ahmadu Bello University, Nuhu Bamali Polytechnic, and Kaduna State Polytechnic, made this stand during a summit organized to review the achievements of the federal and Kaduna State governments, especially in the education sector.

The summit aimed to highlight some of the achievements recorded by the Governor Uba Sani administration in the educational sector and foster meaningful dialogue among students, policymakers, and other stakeholders on issues including the planned nationwide protest.

Attendees included Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Students Engagement, Asefon Sunday, and student union leaders from all tertiary institutions in Kaduna State.
