In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Tersoo Kula, Governor Alia questioned the intentions of those undermining his efforts, suggesting such actions reveal a lack of goodwill towards the IDPs and Benue as a whole.

Governor Alia reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to implementing durable solutions that prioritize the dignity, security, and development of the displaced, as well as all Benue citizens.

“The Durable Solutions initiative is built on a foundation of dignity and security, ensuring IDPs are not just resettled but also empowered to rebuild their lives,” Kula stated.

He explained that the administration is focusing on providing better shelters, skill acquisition programs, and access to year-round farming opportunities. These measures aim to ensure a sustainable future for all affected individuals.

Governor Alia also highlighted the importance of careful planning and robust security measures to ensure the safety of displaced individuals returning to their ancestral lands, warning against hasty actions that could endanger their lives.

He noted that the government is actively collaborating with security agencies to reclaim and secure communities affected by herdsmen attacks.

Addressing critics, Kula added, “Those desperate to criticize every step of the administration should understand that instant solutions to longstanding issues ignored by previous governments are unrealistic.”

Governor Alia remains committed to delivering long-term solutions for IDPs while prioritizing the safety, dignity, and prosperity of all citizens in Benue State.
