Speaking to journalists in Kano on Thursday, Iliyasu claimed that Kwankwaso has been persistently lobbying President Bola Tinubu for approval to switch parties, all in a bid to secure a second term for his political protégé, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, in 2027.

APC Chieftain Urges Tinubu to Reject Kwankwaso’s Move

Iliyasu, a former commissioner and currently the Executive Director (Finance) at the Hadejia Jama’are River Basin Development Authority, urged President Tinubu to outrightly reject Kwankwaso’s attempts to join the APC.

He further disclosed that several NNPP lawmakers in the House of Representatives are also preparing to align with the APC, a move that would significantly cripple the Kwankwasiyya movement led by Kwankwaso.

“Kwankwaso is only seeking personal political survival. His defection would be a major boost for APC as we strategize to reclaim Kano in 2027,” Iliyasu stated.

This revelation adds to the ongoing political drama surrounding defections, alliances, and power plays ahead of the next general elections.
