Olukoyede Exposes ₦500 Million Gift Scandal: Why He Refused Money Sent During Mother’s Burial

Speaking at the 38th Anti-Corruption Situation Room in Abuja, Olukoyede explained that the gifts were from ministers, permanent secretaries, directors, and other prominent figures. He emphasized that, due to his role at the EFCC, accepting such gifts could have led to complications and jeopardized his integrity.

The EFCC boss further elaborated that had the funds been deposited in his bank account, it could have raised doubts about his impartiality while investigating the very people who sent the gifts. Olukoyede underscored the importance of ethical behavior, particularly for someone in his position, stating that maintaining transparency is essential to fighting corruption.
