According to a statement from presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, Ogunjimi’s appointment, approved on March 4, 2025, will officially take effect on March 7, 2025, coinciding with the retirement of the current Accountant General, Oluwatoyin Madehin.
Ogunjimi, 57, was initially announced as Madehin’s successor in December 2024. His selection was finalized through a competitive process involving Directors of Accounts in the Federal Civil Service. Candidates underwent three evaluation stages: a written test, an ICT proficiency assessment, and an oral interview.
The process reflects President Tinubu’s commitment to transparency, merit, and excellence in public service appointments.
Congratulating Ogunjimi, Tinubu urged him to uphold professionalism, integrity, and dedication in his role.
Ogunjimi holds a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (1990), and a Master’s in Accounting and Finance from the University of Lagos. He is also a fellow of both the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria.
