Eedris Abdulkareem Alleges ₦200 Million Offer From Senator To Promote Tell Your Papa
Veteran Nigerian rapper, Eedris Abdulkareem, has revealed that he was approached by a senator who offered him ₦200 million to support the promotion of his controversial track, “Tell Your Papa.”
According to Naija News, the hip-hop artist, whose real name is Eedris Turayo Abdulkareem Ajenifuja, disclosed in a video shared on his social media platform that the song had allegedly unsettled President Bola Tinubu and his son, Seyi Tinubu...READ MORE…
In the video, Eedris claimed the unnamed senator told him that the Tinubu-led administration was planning to contact him with the intent of offering a financial inducement in exchange for halting his public criticism of the government. The artist said he turned down the offer, suspecting the senator had been sent as part of a larger ploy.
“Let me give you all a quick update,” Eedris said. “I received a call from someone who claimed to be a legislator. At first, he introduced himself as an Honorable, but later corrected it to Senator. He told me he had just left a meeting with Seyi and members of the current administration. According to him, they intend to reach out to me with a bribe, and he advised me not to accept it because they — his group — were ready to sponsor me behind the scenes.”
Eedris said he was immediately suspicious of the call, asserting that he declined the ₦200 million offer on principle.
“He kept repeating, ‘We’ll give you ₦200 million. Don’t listen to them. We’ll support you underground,’” the rapper recounted. “But I told him I wasn’t interested. The video I made was never sponsored. I knew right away he was sent, and I made it clear I wanted no part in it.”
The artist reaffirmed his commitment to speaking truth to power, emphasizing that his music remains a tool for advocacy, not for sale.
