On Monday alone, approximately 51 people lost their lives in coordinated assaults on the Zikke and Kakpa communities in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State. Numerous others sustained injuries. Similarly, multiple attacks were reported in Otukpo, Benue State, where suspected Fulani herdsmen reportedly killed dozens and destroyed several homes by fire.
Reacting to the alarming events, Igbokwe expressed his outrage in a post on his Facebook page, urging Ribadu to act swiftly. “The National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, must address this crisis and bring an end to the bloodshed in Plateau and Benue States,” he wrote. “This national disgrace must not continue. Enough is enough.”
In response to the security crisis, Plateau State Governor, Caleb Muftwang, issued a firm warning to the perpetrators and those sponsoring the attacks, assuring that justice will prevail. He emphasized the government’s commitment to defending the lives and property of its citizens and condemned any effort to normalize violence within the region.
Reports indicate that over 100 individuals have been killed in Bassa LGA alone over the past two weeks, prompting widespread concern and calls for urgent intervention at the highest levels of government.
