Naira Under Pressure Again As Black Market Hits ₦1465 Per Dollar
According to Ireporter Online, the exchange rate between the United States Dollar and the Nigerian Naira remained a major point of attention on Thursday, November 20, 2025, as currency traders continued to navigate fluctuations in the parallel market. Market intelligence from Bureau De Change operators in Lagos indicated that the dollar traded at ₦1465 for selling and ₦1455 for buying at the black market on Tuesday, November 18, 2025.
Despite the activity at the parallel market, financial authorities have repeatedly emphasized that the Central Bank of Nigeria does not officially acknowledge black market transactions. The CBN has urged individuals seeking foreign exchange to conduct all transactions through licensed banking institutions.
Data monitored by Ireporter Online also showed that the official CBN exchange window recorded a high of ₦1459 and a low of ₦1440, underscoring ongoing variations across different forex channels. Stakeholders are advised to note that rates may differ depending on the location, volume, and point of transaction, as forex prices often fluctuate throughout the day.
