Governor Surprises Three Civil Servants With SUVs After Secret Performance Check

The Governor of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo, has rewarded three Government House staff members with brand new SUVs in recognition of their exceptional work ethic. The Governor revealed that he personally observed the staff’s performance by delaying his schedule to monitor whether any would leave early, noting that none did.

According to official reports, the awards are intended to acknowledge discipline, commitment, and integrity among civil servants. Governor Okpebholo emphasized that hard work does not go unnoticed, stating, “I rewarded three outstanding staff with brand new SUVs because hard work must be seen and appreciated. When you serve Edo State with discipline, commitment and integrity, someone is watching. Excellence will always be rewarded.”

In addition to the staff recognition, Governor Okpebholo has approved minor adjustments to his cabinet to enhance governance, efficiency, and service delivery. The changes, which take effect from January 30, 2026, involve three key positions in the state executive council.

According to the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Ikhilor, the reshuffle aims to improve coordination and strengthen policy implementation. Vincent Osas Uwadiae has been redeployed from the Ministry of Oil and Gas Resources to the Ministry of Lands and Housing as Commissioner, while Yakubu Oshiorenua Musa, formerly Commissioner for Lands and Housing, has been appointed Chief of Staff to the Governor.

Gani Audu has been nominated as Commissioner for Oil and Gas Resources, subject to confirmation by the Edo State House of Assembly. Governor Okpebholo expressed confidence that the adjustments would leverage experience where needed most, enhance administrative efficiency, and accelerate the delivery of policies and programs across the state.
