Shakira And Burna Boy Unveil Official FIFA World Cup 2026 Anthem

Global music icon Shakira has officially released the FIFA World Cup 2026 anthem titled “Dai Dai,” featuring Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Burna Boy in a high-profile collaboration that has already begun generating global attention.

According to Ireporter Online, Shakira announced the release of the highly anticipated track on Friday via her social media platforms, declaring, “Dai Dai is here. The @FIFAWorldCup 2026 starts now!”

The world football governing body, FIFA, also confirmed the release in a statement shared on its official X account, noting that the song is now available across all major streaming platforms. FIFA described the track as a vibrant expression of the excitement, energy, and global unity expected to define the 2026 tournament, stating that it captures “the energy, passion and global spirit that will define the greatest show on earth.”

FIFA further revealed that proceeds from “Dai Dai” will support the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, a $100 million initiative aimed at improving access to education and football opportunities for children worldwide. It added that Shakira will donate her royalties to the fund, while Sony Music will match the first $250,000 raised.

The anthem carries strong themes of resilience, ambition, and unity, with lyrical references to football legends such as Pelé, Diego Maradona, Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, and Kylian Mbappé, alongside nods to football-loving nations across different continents.

The release also marks Shakira’s return to the World Cup stage following her previous global hits “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)” in 2010 and “La La La” in 2014. For Burna Boy, the collaboration represents another milestone in his growing international influence, making him one of the few Nigerian artists to feature on an official FIFA World Cup song after Davido’s appearance on “Hayya Hayya (Better Together)” for the 2022 tournament.

Meanwhile, FIFA announced that Nigerian Afrobeats star Rema will perform at the opening ceremony of the 2026 World Cup in Los Angeles on June 12, while Shakira is set to co-headline the tournament’s first-ever halftime show during the final on July 19. FIFA described the planned performance as a fusion of sport, culture, and purpose in support of its global education initiative.

The organization also confirmed that “Dai Dai” joins other tracks on the official World Cup 2026 soundtrack, including “Lighter,” “Por Ella,” “Echo,” and “Illuminate,” with additional releases expected ahead of the tournament.
