Emir Sanusi Suspends Kano Village Head Over Misconduct

The 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has ordered the suspension of the Village Head of Rikadawa, Malam Rabi’u Yusuf, over allegations linked to the unauthorized sale of farmland in Madobi Local Government Area of Kano State.

Reports indicate that the suspension was announced on Wednesday during a hearing conducted by the Kano Emirate Council as part of efforts to address complaints surrounding the disputed land transaction.

The directive was communicated through the District Head of Kano, Alhaji Ali Ibrahim Ahmad Matawalle, alongside the Waziri of Kano, Alhaji Sa’ad Shehu Gidado.

The case was brought before the Emirate Council following petitions filed against the village head and Isah Dahiru, the son of a district head. Both individuals were accused of participating in the sale of farmland reportedly belonging to the late District Head of Madobi, Alhaji Sale Musa Kwankwaso, without proper authorization.

Findings presented to the council reportedly linked the suspended village head to the controversial transaction, prompting disciplinary action by the Emirate authorities.

Officials of the Emirate Council maintained that the alleged conduct violated the trust, responsibility, and ethical standards expected of traditional rulers within the Kano Emirate.

One of the complainants, Muddasir Dahiru, informed the council that he submitted a petition after discovering that portions of the farmland had allegedly been sold by the district head’s son and the village head without the consent of the rightful owner.

The Kano Emirate Council stated that investigations into the allegations remain ongoing and that further actions would be determined based on the outcome of its findings.
