Troops Repel Attempted Attack On NIPSS In Plateau State
According to Ireporter Online, troops have successfully foiled an attempted infiltration of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, in the Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Military sources revealed that the incident occurred at about 1:30 a.m. on Monday when troops, alongside other security operatives assigned to guard the institute, detected suspicious movements around the facility.
It was gathered that the security personnel quickly responded to the threat, forcing the suspected intruders to flee into a nearby thick bush before they could gain access to the premises. The swift action reportedly prevented what could have been another security breach at the strategic institution.
Although troops conducted a search of the surrounding area where the suspects were last sighted, no arrests were made as the intruders had already escaped.
Security sources further confirmed that surveillance has since been intensified around the institute, with additional reinforcements deployed and patrols increased to strengthen area domination and prevent any future attack.
The development comes barely two weeks after armed men attacked the same facility, during which three security operatives were killed. The Plateau State Police Public Relations Officer, Alfred Alabo, had confirmed the earlier incident, which occurred in the early hours of June 16, with reports indicating that two soldiers and a police officer lost their lives, although their identities were not disclosed.
