It’s More Than Roads’ — Umahi Explains Tinubu’s Strategy To End Insecurity

Umahi made the remarks during the official commencement of construction at the Muna City Gate section of the Maiduguri-Dikwa-Gamboru road in Borno State over the weekend. The project forms part of the Federal Government’s continued investment in road infrastructure across the North-East region.

The minister stated that the completed roads would strengthen connectivity among communities within the region while also linking Nigeria more effectively with neighbouring countries, including Chad and Cameroon. He noted that the improved transport network is expected to boost cross-border trade, ease the movement of people and goods, and stimulate economic activities.

He further emphasized that the upgraded highways would significantly improve the operational efficiency of security agencies by enhancing logistics and providing easier access to border communities that have experienced years of insecurity.

According to Umahi, the road projects are a critical component of President Tinubu’s broader security agenda. He maintained that while the infrastructure would deliver economic and social benefits to residents of the North-East, it would also provide the military with improved access needed to sustain operations against the remaining pockets of insurgency in the region.
