Toni Payne Makes Big Move To Inter Milan After Everton Exit

According to reports, Inter Milan confirmed the arrival of the Nigeria international on Friday, July 11, announcing that Payne will remain with the Nerazzurri until June 30, 2028.

The Italian club described the 30-year-old as a talented player with an impressive career journey, highlighting her early development in the United States before moving to Europe in 2017 through a stint with Ajax.

Payne later joined Sevilla, where she made 168 appearances and scored 30 goals between 2018 and 2024, before making a move to the English Women’s Super League with Everton.

The Birmingham, Alabama-born footballer, who has Nigerian heritage, initially represented the United States at youth level before switching allegiance to Nigeria. She made her Super Falcons debut in 2021 and has since become an important figure in the national team setup.

Her move to Inter Milan marks another significant step in her career, as she joins a club that has continued to grow in women’s football. Inter’s women’s team earned promotion to Serie A shortly after its formation in 2018 and secured qualification for the UEFA Women’s Champions League for the first time in 2025.

Payne’s latest transfer comes ahead of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, where she has been named among Nigeria’s 25-player squad. The midfielder will be making her third appearance at the continental tournament after featuring in the 2023 and 2024 editions.

She played a crucial role in helping the Super Falcons win a record-extending 10th WAFCON title in 2024 and is expected to be a key player as Nigeria begin their campaign in Group C alongside Malawi, Egypt and Zambia. The group-stage matches are scheduled to take place in Rabat from July 26 to August 16.
