Bauchi Honours Jonathan With Prestigious Chieftaincy Title

The Bauchi Emirate has honoured former President Goodluck Jonathan with the traditional title of Jigon Bauchi in recognition of his contributions to democracy, peace and national unity.

According to IREPORTERONLINE, the title was conferred on Jonathan on Tuesday by the Emir of Bauchi, Rilwanu Adamu, during a ceremony held at the Emir’s Palace in Bauchi metropolis.

The monarch described the former president as a leader committed to peace and democratic development, while praising his efforts toward promoting unity across Nigeria.

Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed led a delegation of government officials and other dignitaries to the palace for the occasion.

Speaking during the ceremony, Mohammed commended the Bauchi Emirate for recognising Jonathan’s contributions to the country, saying the conferment reflected the former president’s role in strengthening Nigeria’s democratic process and promoting national cohesion.

The governor said Jonathan’s leadership and contributions to Nigeria remained worthy of honour and recognition.

Responding to the gesture, Jonathan expressed gratitude to the Emir, the Bauchi Emirate Council and the people of Bauchi State for the recognition.

The former president said he was deeply honoured by the traditional title and pledged to respect the customs, traditions and values of the Bauchi Emirate.

Jonathan also promised to uphold the dignity associated with the title and continue to respect the institution that had bestowed the honour on him.
