The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has begun discussions with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over plans to replace its existing party logo with a modified version.

According to IREPORTERONLINE, the party disclosed the development in a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, who said the proposed logo change had already been communicated to the electoral commission.

The party explained that the modification followed consultations with INEC, although some administrative procedures are still required before the new symbol can officially replace the existing logo.

Until the process is completed, the NDC has directed its candidates, members and supporters to continue using the current logo during political and campaign activities.

The existing symbol, which features a two-finger victory sign, remains the party’s officially approved logo for now.

The NDC said it is working to resolve the outstanding administrative issues with INEC to enable the modified logo to be formally adopted.

The party stated, “The NDC, in consultation with INEC, have also modified our logo and notified INEC appropriately, at a meeting INEC themselves attended with us.”

It added that some administrative details were still being addressed before the current logo could be replaced.

The party further urged its supporters to continue using the two-finger victory sign for campaign purposes until all engagements with INEC regarding the proposed replacement are concluded.

The development comes as political parties begin preparations for the 2027 general elections, with the NDC seeking to finalise its organisational and campaign arrangements ahead of the polls.
