Nigerian Afrobeats singer Raheem Okoya has announced his decision to stop releasing music professionally, saying the demands of his career have become increasingly difficult to balance with his other commitments.

According to Ireporter Online, Raheem, the son of businessman and industrialist Rasaq Okoya, made the announcement on Wednesday through a statement shared on his Instagram page.

The singer explained that his journey into music initially began as a hobby and a way of bonding with friends before gradually developing into a professional career.

He said his involvement in music eventually created opportunities for him to perform at major events, interact with artistes he had admired while growing up and build a following of his own.

However, Raheem said managing his music career alongside his other responsibilities had become increasingly challenging over the past year.

He explained that he had always believed in giving his best to whatever he pursued but no longer felt capable of dedicating the time, patience and commitment he believed his music career deserved.

The singer therefore decided to make what he described as a professional exit from releasing new music, while expressing appreciation to his fans and colleagues in the entertainment industry.

Raheem, however, stressed that his decision does not mean he has completely abandoned his creative ambitions. He disclosed plans to explore other areas of creativity and possibly return to music at some point in the future.

He also suggested that his previously released album could still find its way to audiences eventually, noting that music remains therapeutic for him.

Raheem began releasing music professionally around 2022 and gained attention with songs including Bad Bitch Syndrome, Kowope, SOWETO and TRU$T FUND.

On May 1, 2026, he released his eight-track debut project, By The Order Of The City, marking a major milestone in his music career.

His announcement comes only a few months after the release of the project, with the singer now indicating that he intends to channel his creative energy into other ventures while leaving the door open for a possible return to music in the future.
