Yira Sor Ruled Out For Six Weeks With Hamstring Injury

Super Eagles winger Yira Sor is expected to spend about six weeks on the sidelines after suffering a hamstring injury during Amedspor’s 2-1 comeback victory over Trabzonspor in the Turkish Super Lig.

The 26-year-old sustained the injury during the encounter at the Seyrantepe Spor Kompleksi Stadyumu on Monday, August 31, after helping Amedspor fight back from an early deficit.

Trabzonspor took the lead through Mohamed Salah before Sor restored parity for Amedspor in first-half stoppage time.

However, Sor was unable to continue after the interval and was substituted four minutes into the second half, with fellow Nigerian forward Gift Orban taking his place.

Orban later completed Amedspor’s comeback by scoring the winning goal in the 90th minute.

Amedspor confirmed the extent of Sor’s injury on Tuesday, September 1, following an MRI examination.

The club said, “MRI scans of Yira Sor revealed an approximately 11-centimetre-long muscle injury in his left biceps femoris (hamstring). Treatment and rehabilitation are expected to last approximately six weeks.”

Sor joined Amedspor from Belgian Pro League side KRC Genk in August after completing his move to the Turkish club.

The Nigeria international has made three league appearances for Amedspor this season and has scored once.
