5IVE’ Does It Again! Davido Wins Album Of The Year

Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Davido has added another major accolade to his growing list of career achievements after his latest album, 5IVE, was named Album of the Year at the 2026 African Muzik Magazine Awards, AFRIMMA.

According to reports, the award was announced on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, through AFRIMMA’s official social media platform, following the awards ceremony and music festival held on September 12 at Annette Strauss Square in Dallas, Texas.

Davido went into this year’s ceremony as one of the night’s most nominated artistes, securing five nominations across several major categories.

His 5IVE album emerged ahead of a strong field of contenders, including Burna Boy’s No Sign of Weakness, Asake’s M$NEY, Omah Lay’s Clarity of Mind and Black Sherif’s Top of The Morning Era.

Other artistes nominated in the category included Tyla with A-Pop, Lloyiso with Never Thought I Could, Leigh-Anne with My Ego Told Me To and Himra with SORRY I’M BAD.

Beyond the Album of the Year category, Davido also received nominations for Artist of the Year, Best Male West Africa and the Crossing Boundaries With Music Award.

His latest AFRIMMA triumph further adds to a notable year for the Nigerian singer and reinforces the growing international recognition of African music.

The 2026 AFRIMMA nominations featured artistes from across West Africa, South Africa, the United Kingdom and the wider African diaspora, reflecting the expanding global influence of the continent’s music industry.

With 5IVE taking home the coveted Album of the Year prize, Davido has once again strengthened his position among Africa’s leading musical acts on the international stage.
