I’ll Resign If I Fail To End Zamfara Insecurity In 2 Years” — Marafa
The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) governorship candidate in Zamfara State, Senator Kabir Marafa, has pledged to tackle insecurity in the state within two years if elected governor in the 2027 general elections.
Marafa made the declaration on Wednesday during a media parley with members of the Correspondents Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Zamfara State Council, at his residence in Gusau.
According to reports, the former senator said his previous experience as a commissioner in the state and as a senator had given him an understanding of the challenges confronting Zamfara and how to address them.
Marafa vowed that his administration would bring an end to insurgency, kidnapping and other forms of criminality in the state within two years if elected.
He further promised to voluntarily resign from office if he failed to fulfil the pledge within the stated period.
“I served as a commissioner for many years in this state. I also served as a senator for many years. I know the problems of this state and how to solve them.
“If I am elected governor in the forthcoming general elections, give me a period of two years, and I will end insecurity in this state.
“If I cannot bring an end to insecurity, insurgency, kidnapping and other criminalities in Zamfara State within the period of two years, I will voluntarily resign,” he said.
The NDC candidate also appealed to residents of Zamfara to support the party and its candidates ahead of the 2027 elections.
He assured the electorate that, if elected, his administration would prioritise peace, progress and stability across the state.
