APC Set To Inaugurate State Excos Today
Through its Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC), the All Progressives Congress (APC) will today inaugurate the party’s States Executive Committee (SECs).
The event billed to hold at the Muhammadu Buhari House National Secretariat is part of the scheduled activities lined up by the CECPC ahead of the party’s February 26 National Convention

It was unclear yesterday if some aggrieved members who lost out at the October 2021 congresses in the states have been pacified.
Today’s inauguration of the SECs might further heighten tension in some states where governors, ministers and federal lawmakers have been battling for to control the party.

The rift is reflected in the number of parallel congresses that took place in many states, including Enugu, Kwara, Ogun, Akwa Ibom, Zamafara, Delta, Kano, Osun, Oyo and Bauchi.
At its meeting yesterday, the CECPC did not conclude deliberations on the adoption of congress of some states in accordance with the convention timetable.
Though 10 of the 13-man CECPC converged for the meeting, the chairman, Mai Mala Buni, and two other governors (Gboyega Oyetola of Osun State and Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger State) were absent.
A source at the meeting confirmed the absence of the governors, but said that the committee sat on the report of some state congresses and adjourned the meeting to Thursday to enable the committee to consider states with parallel congress.
The source said: “It is true the governors were not in attendance, but we met and review the congress reports of the majority of the states, but had to adjourn till tomorrow to consider states with parallel congresses.”
When asked if the inauguration will still hold as planned, the source said: “We are working towards that. We are going to look into states with parallel congresses and resolve all the difference. The inauguration of the SECs is still possible tomorrow (today).”
