Trouble Brews In APC Over Alleged Imposition Of Edo South Senatorial District Candidate

Trouble is currently brewing in Edo State APC as party leaders, stakeholders and members in Edo South are seriously kicking over an alleged imposition of a former Deputy Governor of Edo State, Chief Lucky Imasuen as the senatorial candidate for the district.

The storm that is building strength and has the potential to bring the party down is currently the focus of massive agitation in the state’s most populous senatorial zone.

Anything less of a free and fair primary, according to multiple-party stakeholders and leaders, would be fiercely opposed to the party’s detriment.

The challenges in the Senatorial district, according to a party delegate from Edo South who requested anonymity, may be related to the enviable and outstanding performance thus far of a key senatorial aspirant, Hon Valentine Asuen, Chairman and CEO of DVD Oil and Gas.

The party chieftain was enraged by the allegations and wondered where the so-called “Party Leader” who is alleged to be behind the imposition was while Hon Valentine Asuen was busy rallying party members in the senatorial district to prepare for the challenge of unseating the current PDP senator in the Red Chambers, who has performed poorly.

“It’s unfortunate that this is a clear case of “Monkey Dey Work Baboon Dey Chop” because for the previous four years or more, the Edo South APC has lacked directional leadership to confront the PDP, which has consistently failed the people in all areas of representation.

With the upcoming general elections, Hon Valentine Asuen, a former State youth leader who has played a significant role in the development of the party, entered the senatorial campaign, and the party’s tempo and cohesion have substantially increased since then.

For once we now have a sense of belonging that the PDP would be dislodge, he has carried about his campaign with dignity and the rules of the game.

Unfortunately, we are now hearing that a certain leader has IMPOSED Lucky Imasuen to be the party’s next senatorial candidate, implying that the same type of imposition that caused the party to lose the state to the PDP in the last Gubernatorial election is going to resurface.

We would passionately reject it and announce unequivocally that the Edo South Senatorial is not for sale..”

Still on the subject of the former Deputy Governor’s unholy imposition on the party’s leaders, stakeholders, and members, the Internet has since been awash with a viral letter rejecting the rumours, written by a party chieftain named Felix Osemwengie Isere, who hails from the senatorial district, in no uncertain terms, the letter denounced the purported imposition in its totality.

Part of the letter read…

“Dear distinguished leaders, let me make reaffirm this generally position , the aspiration of DVD is an aspiration of the Youths not only in the party but outside the party and any attempt to deny the Youths this opportunity will receive a very serious resistance.

In case you don’t know, notable business men in Edo State have seen his aspiration as their own and ready to spend what ever amount of money to see this as a reality. In a final note, it is important to know that DVD’S aspiration is a popular demand beyond APC and any attempt to change this will receive serious backlash.”

Over the rumors causing strife, pockets of protest have emerged in Benin City, the States’ metropolis. Party members claim that the field is open for all qualified aspirants to test their popularity, and that it is only fair if the party creates a level playing field for everyone.

” We should take note that the opposition is looking at us and looking for a means to truncate this noble initiative to put an end to their inglorious tenure at the National Assembly doing nothing, their attack dogs both online and on the streets are waiting for we to shoot ourselves in the foot.

We are pleading with our national chairman HE Abdullahi Adamu to please look into the alarming developments in Edo State so that justice and equity can prevail.”

According to the current situation, the APC leadership may need to act quickly to curb the worrisome development.

This is a developing narrative with a lot of details to keep track of, stay tuned for more details.
