$2.5bn 4th Mainland Bridge, Ready In 4yrs — Lagos govt
The Lagos State Government has stated that the proposed Fourth Mainland Bridge project will be completed in four years, with the official kick-off for the project, the turning of the surd, to be done by Lagos State Governor, Bababjide Sanwo-Olu, in the first quarter of 2023.
The state government’s Office of Public-Private Partnerships announced Messrs CCECC-CRCCIG Consortium as the preferred bidder for the bridge’s construction on Thursday.
The Lagos/Ibadan Expressway, Lagos/Abuja highway, Benin/Sagamu, and Igbogbo/Lagos roads would all connect to the Fourth Bridge. The project, estimated to cost $2.5 billion, would be delivered through a Public-Private Partnership initiative and would be tolled for two years.

Gbenga Omotoso, Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Ope George, Special Adviser to the Governor on Public Private Partnerships, and his counterpart in the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, Engineer, Aramide Adeyoye, announced this on Friday during a press conference in Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos.
Omotoso assured that over 800 identified victims whose properties would be affected by the project would be adequately compensated.
The Fourth Mainland Bridge (4MB) Project, a proposed Public Private Partnership (PPP) transport infrastructure development, will include the construction and operation of a greenfield tolled road and bridge with a design speed of 120 kilometers per hour, as well as the development of adjacent real estates, according to George.
When completed, the bridge will be the second longest in Africa, with three toll plazas, nine interchanges, a 4.5-kilometer Lagoon Bridge, and an eco-friendly environment. It is also expected to span 37 kilometers, beginning in Ajah on the Eti-Osa-Lekki-Epe corridor and continuing north west to the Lagoon shoreline of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway via Owutu/Isawo in Ikorodu.
