2026 Is A Year Of Hope — Reps Leadership Urges Nigerians To Stay United
According to Ireporter Online, the leadership of the House of Representatives has declared 2026 a year of hope, urging Nigerians to remain united, resilient, and optimistic as the nation enters the new year.
Speaker of the House, Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, alongside his Deputy, Hon. Benjamin Kalu, delivered separate New Year messages in which they commended Nigerians for their perseverance and collective strength in navigating the challenges of 2025, while expressing confidence in the opportunities that lie ahead.
Speaker Abbas encouraged citizens to renew their faith in the nation and continue working together to promote unity, peace, and development. He acknowledged that although the past year was demanding, it also recorded notable progress in governance and improvements in national security, with security agencies intensifying efforts to restore stability across the country.
He described the resilience of Nigerians as a key driver of national growth and appealed for cooperation across religious, regional, and political lines to build a more prosperous and harmonious nation. Commending citizens for their patience and contributions to national development, the Speaker reaffirmed the National Assembly’s commitment to enacting people-focused legislation aimed at strengthening the economy, promoting inclusiveness, and improving the welfare of all Nigerians, in alignment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu, in his message, expressed gratitude for the successful transition into 2026 and called on Nigerians at home and in the diaspora to channel their collective energy toward building a society where opportunities flourish and unity remains a core strength. He described the new year as one filled with promise and urged citizens to remain hopeful while working together to overcome challenges and secure a prosperous future.
Kalu further assured Nigerians that the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led administration remains committed to serving the people with dedication and integrity. He emphasized that the government is actively addressing citizens’ concerns through policies aimed at economic growth, enhanced security, and improved quality of life. Calling for continued public support, the Deputy Speaker expressed confidence in Nigeria’s ability to surmount its challenges and wished citizens a year marked by peace, fulfillment, and success.
