2027 Countdown Begins: Baba-Ahmed Declares Tinubu’s Defeat Inevitable

Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, former Vice Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, has urged President Bola Tinubu not to seek re-election in 2027, asserting that his time in office should come to an end.
Appearing on Arise Television’s Prime Time on Friday, Baba-Ahmed emphasized that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is on track to face defeat in the upcoming 2027 general elections.
“If Tinubu is truly the smart politician people say he is, he should know when to bow out,” Baba-Ahmed said, noting that the warning signs of electoral failure are already evident for both Tinubu and the APC.
He ridiculed Tinubu’s long-term political strategies, sarcastically labeling him a “super-smart politician” who had orchestrated various political moves from 2007 up until the contentious 2023 presidential elections.
“He skipped 2007 and jokingly made Atiku the candidate, brought in Ribadu and others in 2011, then backed Buhari in 2015, who won. He stepped back in 2019 and returned to claim 2023 — but if he’s really that smart, he should know 2027 will be a loss,” Baba-Ahmed remarked.
He argued that Tinubu’s winning formula would not hold in the next election, citing rising public discontent and failed promises. Baba-Ahmed stated that at least two strong candidates are capable of defeating Tinubu in 2027, stressing that the president will not deliver on his campaign promises.
“The APC has been exposed as a lie,” he declared, adding that former President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration failed to improve security, fight corruption, or develop Nigeria — and Tinubu, he believes, won’t fare any better.
Nigerians Will Unite to Reject Failed Leadership
Baba-Ahmed predicted a turning point in Nigeria’s democratic process, asserting that voters will come together to reject poor governance and hold their leaders accountable.
“I foresee Nigerians uniting to say, ‘enough is enough.’ If you cannot uphold the principles of democracy, then you have no place in leadership. For the first time, Nigerians will rise to practice true democracy, and bad leadership will no longer find a hiding place,” he concluded.
