2027: OK Movement Speaks Out, Clears Air On Alleged Rift With Obidients

The OK Movement and the Obidient Movement have dismissed reports of a disagreement between their leadership, reaffirming their commitment to working together ahead of the 2027 general elections.

According to IREPORTER Online, the groups reached the position following a strategic meeting involving their national and diaspora leaders, where they resolved to strengthen cooperation, improve grassroots mobilisation and maintain a united front in support of the proposed Peter Obi-Rabiu Kwankwaso political alliance.

The groups also expressed support for Peter Obi and former Kano State Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, describing both politicians as leaders whose commitment to national development has continued to attract supporters across the country and in the diaspora.

Speaking during the meeting, National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, Dr Yunusa Tanko, urged support groups and grassroots structures to remain focused on their common objective rather than engaging in activities capable of creating divisions.

Tanko called for greater cooperation among supporters, particularly at polling-unit level, stressing that effective grassroots coordination would be essential to achieving their political objectives ahead of the 2027 elections.

National Convener of the OK Movement, Hon. Jackie Wayas, also clarified that the organisation was established as a unifying platform to promote the Obi-Kwankwaso alliance and coordinate various support groups.

Wayas stressed that the OK Movement was neither created to replace nor compete with the Obidient or Kwankwasiyya movements.

She explained that participants at the meeting agreed that the leadership structure of the OK Movement should involve representatives and stakeholders from both movements to ensure inclusiveness and shared ownership.

The groups subsequently resolved to strengthen cooperation, promote mutual respect and coordinate the activities of genuine support groups ahead of the 2027 elections.

They also urged Nigerians and their supporters to disregard what they described as misleading reports and unauthorised publications concerning their activities.

The movements particularly rejected claims suggesting that the OK Movement had become a replacement for the Obidient Movement, describing such narratives as attempts to sow discord among their supporters.

They advised members of the public to rely on official statements from recognised national and diaspora leadership when seeking information about their activities and decisions.

The two movements reaffirmed their commitment to peaceful and issue-based political mobilisation, insisting that unity and cooperation would remain central to their efforts to promote accountable, competent and people-oriented leadership in Nigeria.
